NISHKAM KARMAYOGI SHRI SANT JANARDAN SWAMI (MOUNGIRI) MAHARAJ ( 1914 - 1989 )
The Divine Grace of Shri Sant Sadguru Janardan Swami (Moungiriji) Maharaj was born on September 24, 1914, in a tiny hamlet by the name of Tapargaon in Aurangabad District in Maharashtra (India).
His time of birth is said to be one of the most auspicious. He was Bhagwat Preacher and lover of Lord Shiva and had grasped the preaching of Bhagwat in womb only. When he was in womb, mother Punyashlok Mhalsa Devi had golden opportunity to hear Shrimat Bhagwat Effect of the same was seen in His life. He preached the principles of Bhagwat (A religious mythology by Sant Eknat, and Sant Jyaneshwar). Born to pious parents Appasaheb Narayan Patil (ugale), and Punyashlok Sau Mhalsabai Appaji Ugale .his family was very reach.
Kisanrao Mohite Patil was father of Punyashlok Sau Mhalsabai Appaji Ugale. Kisanrao had 3 sons and 6 daughters. Out three sons Baburao used to do Eknath Bhagavat parayan regurly. Kianrao Mohite patil and Baburao both of them are Lord Shiv bhakt. When Punyashlok Sau Mhalsabai was pregnant she got chance to listen Bhagvat from brother Baburao. Thus Swami had Garbh sanskar like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Son of God. Swami throughout His life preached the complete science of house holder along with religious principles. Like that of Lord Krishna, he enjoyed the cattle breeding for few days. During childhood he used to do 11 maruthi pradhakshina, He also worked as a farmer. He had inborn liking to know God. He was aspiring to the omnipresence of God. And for the same purpose. He left his home, reform others houses. In order to complete his resolution, he left his home and came to Andarsul (Taluka-Yeola, Nashik- District, Maharashtra) in a temple of Tekeshwar.in Feb. 1952 When swami arrived at (Andarsul) Nageshwar Mahadev Madir, he started Arti, Bhajan, Trikal puja of Nageshar. gradually people attracted to him and start gathering, swami give pravachan, in 1952 he done frist Jap Anushthan and Datta parayan.
There is an underground cave, he performed severe austerities for years. During the period of austerity, he did take little food. He kept moun throughout austerity period. There only he had the grace of Sadguru. Ultimately he succeeded in his ambition to meet Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva paid three time appearances to him from Shivlinga.
He had Tirth yatra over all India to perform pooja and meditations at Four Dhams, Twelve Jyotirlingas and Seven Puris. Which is supposed to carry on by every Sanyashi. After Tirth yatra he had divine utterance to go the Pinakeshwar Mahadev to rebuild the declined temple. According to the divine voice, Shri Sant Janardan Swami reached at the mountain of Pinakeshwar. When the rebuilding of the temple was started, Swami told to dig the place about five feet deep. The great wonder was experienced by people; they found weapons required for building work (Kuradi, Hammer, Tikav, Pavade etc) Ultimately Pinakeshwar Shiva temple goes to culmination. Like that, he rebuilt huge and wonderful twelve Lord Shiva temples and one Shri Hanuman temple.
He also built new very wonderful Shiva temple and one Vitthal and one Dattatraya temple. Lord Shiva had gifted him a divine power with its aid he cured so many diseased people.
He had liking for all religions. He never criticised other religions. He said that all religions are equal. They are the only streams which confluent in the ocean of Lord Krishna. He was the greater religious preacher. He was a religious philosopher. He taught every aspect of life. He was a theologies. He taught agriculture, carpentry, masonry and education also.
He was hardly 4th class educated, but having good command or Marathi and Sanskrit. He studied various religious books like Vishnupurana, Ramayana, Bhagvat, Shivpurana and Samved. He collected some selective Shlokas and Mantras and made a beautiful book named 'Nitya Niyam Vidhi' it was not only a book but a counterpart of Swamiji. It has to be read twice daily. He also used to say Jvancha Mukhi Viddhi Jan Tochi Khara Punyawan.
He always done selfless social service. Therefore, people called him Nishkam Karmayogi. He worked with villagers to help them achieve their goals. He teaches toil and its importance to people. Building temples and homes for the needy digging wells, resurfacing roads in villages were a few of his activities as a 'Karmayogi'. People gave barren lands to Swamiji. He converted those lands into lush greens flowering gardens. He flourished paradise on the earth through his diving duties. He was a shelter for the orphans and poor children.
Sant Janardan Swami Maharaj believed in the doctrine of morals and education for all. He believed in pantheism. He set up number of schools. Gurukuls, where needy students could stay and learn the finer values of life. These all things are set up free of charges (vinamulya). He always taught to preserve human values, taught man must be a man. Mankind is a counterpart of God. The Organizations work on charity and the students contribute in the form of physical toil towards maintaining the schools and Ashrams. Seven such schools and 14 such Ashrams are established all over Maharashtra and twelve temples of Lord Shiva.
The great wonder happened in his life. Two centuries were confluence. Two Saints born in two different centuries came together - RASHTRASANT SHRI JANARDAN SWAMI (age 75) was invited to attend the yadnya performed by SHRI SANT GANESH BABA (age 147), Tapovan, Nashik. Shri Sant Janardan Swami, the lover, counterpart of Lord Shiva and Sant Ganesh Baba, the counterpart of Lord Ganesh came together. It was a golden opportunity for both. Shri Sant Ganesh Baba being a lover of Lord Ganesh, accepted Shri Sant Janardan Swami to be his Divine Father. The preaching of Shri Sant Janardan Swami mainly dispelled the basic ignorance and illusion about the spiritual, ethical and religious thinking. He enlightened the ideas of people about 'Satwik', 'Rajas' and 'Tamas' Gunas. He adivsed to surpress and check the hatred & cruelty. Noble virtues, humanity and devotion towards god and love towards all animals were planned in the hearts of thousands of people. The great Sant Janardan Swami preached the truth of life in a very easy way. The explain the scripts urges he used to state small parables to solve the present running problems of the Bhaktas. To convey the holy message, he toured the whole Maharashtra State.
His coming over here in this world is said to be pre-decided and his passing away was also preplanned. He enjoyed a very disciplined and planned life. His day starts from 3.30 of the dawn, made a daily work plan. He also planned everything for his Bhaktas. Before his passing away, he formed a Trust; it is registered in a Government record, so that nobody should claim the heritatory rights for his wealth.
